Pictures from Pratinha and the Blue Cove
Although Pratinha ("little silver") is a private farm, it is open for public visitors. It has a fascinating cave system with a part undergound, part above ground river. The farm is very well organized: there are guides, restaurant, souvenir shop and nice places for kids to play. It is quite a drive form
Lençóis, but well worth it.
The Pictures
The map to the cave system. You get to explore just a small part of it. (2048 x 1536, 442k) | | We are getting ready to dive. I unwittingly took this shot in infrared, causing the odd colors. (2048 x 1536, 297k) | | Where the cave system ends and the above ground part of the river begins (2048 x 1536, 723k)
Err,... shouldn't I be the one with the Tempest t-shirt? (2048 x 1536, 636k) | | Ana Paula on her way down, visibly (audibly, in fact) having a lot of fun (2592 x 1944, 894k) | | Almost like a beach (2048 x 1536, 349k)
Pratinha is such a popular place. This is a calm day by their standards. (2048 x 1536, 557k) | | The Blue Cove, standard exposure... not enough to capture its beauty (2592 x 1944, 657k) | | A 30-second exposure looks more like what we actually see there (2592 x 1944, 477k)
Elephant-shaped stalactites in the ceiling of the Blue Cove (2592 x 1944, 773k) | | An attempt at providing an overview of the geometry of the cove (2592 x 1944, 617k) | | Less overexpostion captured better, more natural detail (2592 x 1944, 378k)
